Established on Dublin’s Bow Street in 1780, John Jameson set about creating the world’s most loved Irish whiskey. For the next 200 years there was always a descendant of John Jameson working for the company, with each generation building on the success of the last. The Bow Street Distillery finally closed in 1975, with its operations moving to Midleton, Co. Cork.

Tasting Notes: Glenfiddich 12-Year-Old
Palate: Apple cobbler; orchard fruits; artificial vanilla extract; caramel; bitter oak; cinnamon; English breakfast tea. The finish is medium to short with a bittersweet death. This malt is a quintessential yet unremarkable Speyside.
Created by Master Distiller, Alan Winchester, The Glenlivet 18 is a single malt whisky that is a blend of the distillery’s famous whiskies. Each whisky that goes into it has been aged for at least 18 years. The selection is made from American oak and European oak casks and includes both first- and second-fill barrels.
This rich, fruity and oaky whisky has been matured in fine Spanish Eurorozo Sherry oak barrels and American Bourbon oak barrels, but the reason why this wine is so special is much more than that.
Each batch of Glenfiddich 18 years old is individually numbered and taken care of. In the fusion process, each batch has excellent style and consistency, with a gentle and unique aftertaste.
This extraordinary single malt whisky is not only the result of 18 years of hard work by artisans, but also the embodiment and heritage of generations of winemaking knowledge and skills.
The 15 Year Old gets its distinctive rich and exotic character from a process of selective maturation in which a proportion of the spirit is matured in French oak casks. In fact, we at The Glenlivet were one of the first to use French oak for making whisky, a technique that has since been imitated the world over. The Limousin oak we use is cut in France’s Dordogne region, where it’s often used to mature cognacs. Its low density allows whisky to sink deep into the wood, and we carefully control how long the whisky matures in the casks so as not to overpower the desired result: a unique, pleasing spiciness.
